Position Title:          Busser

Department:            Operations

Location:                   Airports and Service Plazas

Reports To:               General Manager

Status:                       Non - Exempt 


Broad Functions: Serve guests bread, water and butter upon their arrival, and provide refills as needed. Remove used tableware between courses; clear and reset tables after guests leave. Responsible for setting tables, restocking plates and sometimes serving food to guests.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1.   Obtain service area assignment at the beginning of each shift.

2.   Promptly greet guests as they are seated and bring bread, butter and water to table.

3.   Remove used tableware between courses and provide tableware for next course.

4.   Clear tables after guests. Take tableware to dish room and place silverware, dishes, glassware, etc. in appropriate areas for washing.

5.   Between seating, promptly clean table tops, chairs and booths. Check floor and clean as required. Reset and arrange tabletop.

6.   Respond appropriately to guest requests. Communicate guest requests to server as needed.

7.   Communicate with server and hostess to assure efficient seating, table utilization and customer service.

8.   Assist server as needed with food delivery, especially with large parties and during peak periods.

9.   Thank guests as they are leaving.

10. Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.

11. Follows all safety and sanitation policies.


Skills and Qualifications:

1.   Good communication skills.

2.   No previous restaurant experience required but desired.

3.   Good customer service skills.

4.   Good team work approach and the ability to organize effectively.

5.   Commitment to quality service, and food and beverage knowledge.

6.   Understands dining room service procedures.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, use hands and fingers, communicate verbally, and hear. The associate is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, taste, and smell. The associate is also occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and either lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
