Pay Rate: $90000 per year
Broad Functions: Leads our payroll team with a strong focus on delivering exceptional service to our associates nationwide. Champions the employee experience by ensuring accurate, timely payments and providing responsive, compassionate support for all payroll inquiries. Maintains expert knowledge of wage and hour regulations across jurisdictions to protect our team members' rights and ensure compliance. Collaborates closely with HR partners to create seamless integration between payroll and benefits systems, making processes simpler and more transparent for associates. Continuously improves payroll operations by identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery, streamline processes.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Leads and develops payroll team members, establishing performance goals and providing ongoing coaching and professional development.
- Oversee the full payroll cycle, ensuring accurate and timely processing through advanced automated systems while maintaining strict compliance with all applicable wage and hour regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Partners with Director of Payroll to implement strategic payroll innovations, including system enhancements, process automation, and advanced analytics capabilities.
- Manages complex payroll technology projects from conception through implementation, including vendor selection, system configuration, testing, and user training.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with Benefits, Finance, and IT teams to ensure integrated systems, accurate deductions, and data consistency between platforms.
- Leads troubleshooting for complex payroll issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.
- Designs and delivers training programs for HR staff and department managers on payroll systems, processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Implements controls and audit procedures to ensure data security, accuracy, and compliance with SOX requirements and other regulatory standards.
- Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership to support organizational objectives.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred with at least five years of progressive experience in payroll management. Seven years of payroll leadership experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation strongly preferred.
- Advanced experience with modern payroll and HRIS platforms; proficiency with cloud-based payroll solutions and time management systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in multi-state tax regulations and payroll compliance requirements.
- Strong project management capabilities with experience leading system implementations and process improvement initiatives.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate into actionable insights.
- Superior communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing and developing staff.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Excel, data visualization tools, and payroll analytics software.
- Experience with ERP systems and understanding of integration between payroll and financial systems.
