Staff Accountant

Broad Functions: The staff accountant position is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, approving expenses, and ensuring that project billings are issued to customers and payments collected.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:  


  1. Apply company accounting policies, procedures, and U.S. GAAP principles in daily work.
  2. Prepare and maintain accurate accounting records, schedules, and reconciliations.
  3. Prepare and reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts, ensuring supporting documentation is complete.
  4. Record journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy, including accruals and expense allocations.
  5. Assist with rollforward schedules (e.g., fixed assets, leases, prepaids, accruals) as assigned.
  6. Support preparation of calculations for leases, rents, royalties, allowances, and similar recurring agreements under the guidance of senior staff or management.
  7. Communicate with Operations during month-end close to answer questions and provide support.
  8. Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process.
  9. Prepare financial analyses and ad hoc reports to support management as required.
  10. Provide documentation and assistance for internal and external audits.
  11. Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  12. Contribute to departmental and organizational objectives by completing related tasks as assigned.
  13. May be asked to travel within the U.S. to company sites as needed.

 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

 


  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
  2. Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience.
  3. Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel required; Word and PowerPoint preferred).
  5. Experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP preferred).
  6. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  7. Excellent financial reporting and reconciliation skills with high attention to detail.
  8. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.
  9. Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across departments.

They move about within the office to access file cabinets, documents, office machinery, and other equipment. They may also have to do some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time. Occasionally move objects weighing up to 20 lbs., and sometimes, but rarely, up to 50 lbs.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:  



  1. Responsible for the compliance of policies and procedures for the accounting department
  2. Prepare information from the general ledger system and from departments.
  3. Maintain and balance verifying data.
  4. Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.
  5. Prepare accruals for expenses; assign account numbers; request disbursements and reconcile accounts.
  6. Implement accounting procedures and challenge current procedures to recommend changes.
  7. Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.


Skills and Qualifications: 



  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or equivalent) 
  2. 5 years of accounting experience 
  3. Thorough knowledge of general accounting principles and theories
  4. Proficient in MS word, Excel, and Power Point software programs
  5. Broad conceptual judgment, initiative, and ability to deal with complex accounting issues.
  6. Excellent reporting skills
  7. Must have excellent time management skills and have a sense of urgency. 
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
